- Abstract: The paper deals with the issues of preserving historical memory among Rus‑ sian youth by analyzing a survey material conducted among students of higher education regarding the Patriarch Tikhon (Bellavin) figure. In 2025, large‑scale events were held to mark the centenary of Patriarch Tikhon blissful death, the first Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, who was elected after a two‑hundred‑year break. The figure of the patri‑ arch, who headed the Orthodox Church during the most difficult revolutionary upheav‑ als and state transformation period, is especially revered in Russia and abroad. The legacy of the Patriarch Tikhon’s life has received considerable attention from the scien‑ tific community in recent years. In modern Russia, special attention is paid to the civic identity issues and the traditional Russian spiritual, moral, cultural and historical values preservation. In this regard, a historical narrative building that helps to comprehend the Russian civilization value matrix and includes outstanding historical figures and signifi‑ cant events of Russian history is one of the most important areas of educational policy. The complex activity of transferring knowledge and ideas by scientific understanding is the most important element of preserving historical memory. The research papers and popular science publications of the recent decades, as well as the organized commemo‑ rative campaign for 2025, contributed to the historical memory formation of Patriarch Tikhon in Russian society. Thу present publication provides an analysis of the survey results regarding the formation of ideas and the image of the Patriarch.
