Abstract: |
F. M. Dostoevsky and I. A. Goncharov portray a degraded person, who, however, is protecting his personality by resorting to Church Slavonic language and distinguishing between divine justice and human judgment. Dostoevsky depicts in Marmeladov («Crime and Punishment») the drama of moral lapse. Image of Openkin («The Preci-pice») is more commonplace and is treated with the comic element. There are no well-grounded reasons to connect the origin of Openkin's image with Marmeladov, but it may be a possible hypothesis. |
