Abstract

The type of poster art has always been an effective means of combating societal problems for more than a century of the history of social advertising. The study describes the main stages of development of the art of social poster in Russia in the late 19th – early 20th centuries. Russian artists from the creative association “World of art” have their own unique approach to creating social poster. Graphic posters designed by Russian artists are real works of art, containing both elements of Art Nouveau and traditional Russian motifs, conveying the plot and font information in a unique visual form. Charitable organizations regularly distributed social posters to raise funds, especially during the difficult economic situation in the country during and after the war.
