Abstract

The author analyzes the emerging of the “composition of a person's standing before God” in the context of the first third of the 20th century. In this regard, the study addresses the religious search of “older” and “younger” symbolists, their “going to the people”, in search of a “people's God” and attempts to create worship of their own. This is due to the fact that the symbolists considered creativity very widely and extended it to the sacred area and to reality. The artistic text builds the destinies of people according to its plot (one of the manifestations of “life creation”). The fate of the poetess Cherubina de Gabriak illustrates devastating results of these experiments exemplified by the poetess's diary entries. Subsequent cataclysms of the epoch also change the position of the man of culture. Amidst the destruction he remains alone with himself and God, which makes for the birth of a special “composition of the future” in artistic works. This concept of poetics relative not only to icons, but also to the Russian national landscape was discovered by N. N. Tretyakov. The study shows the peculiarity of its embodiment in the post-revolutionary texts of M. Tsvetaeva, A. Akhmatova, O. Mandelstam, which is conditionally called “the composition of the future”. The author reveals its significance in the literary texts of these authors and determines their typological features, including conciliar presence of poet and people before God, giving birth to a certain space, going back to the poetics of Old Russian literature. It is characterized by the unity of the living and the dead, the removal of the antinomy between life and death, and the readiness for death.
