Abstract

The authors address the issue that had already become traditional — decrease in a general level of culture, the crisis phenomena in a spiritual life of society and the lack of moral guidelines in the social behavior of young people. The purpose of the paper is to identify the most effective mechanisms for shaping the spiritual culture of modern society. The paper looks at the works of founders of the Russian science of church art (19–20 cs.) and studies of regional Siberian authors (the turn of the 21th century), examines scientific and exhibition activities in Altai (early 21th century) and summarizes the regional artistic experience in context of the development of cultural communication. The authors arrive at conclusion that main components of the formation of ethical and moral foundations of personality development are the traditional forms of scientific and educational activities: studying collections of monuments of religious culture and art in holdings and exhibits of local history and art museums, including regional ones; analysis of modern exhibition practice as a concept of historical memory; development of thematic scientific research on the Orthodox religious culture. The paper argues that religious culture, constituting a part of the spiritual culture of mankind, is capable of forming sustainable moral guidelines for society.
