Abstract

The Russian Cossacks occupy a significant place in Chinese historical and literary studies. Special attention is paid to in terms of the humanitarian Russian-Chinese relations, actualizing the problems in the domestic scientific discourse. As for the method used, through historiographical analysis, the study will assess the role of the Cossacks in modern Chinese humanities. Analysis of the history of the relationship between the Cossacks and China, as well as the formation of interest among Chinese researchers in the Cossacks begins in the twentieth century. A special role was played by the postrevolutionary wave of Cossack emigration, along with the study of M.A. Sholokhov's novel “The Quiet Don”. The revision of the position towards the Cossacks during the “cultural revolution” was reflected in the research. Deng Xiaoping's policy of openness has once again increased interest in Cossack studies, which is developping at the present time. It is also observed in neighboring countries.
