Abstract: |
The altar bar of the Ascension cathedral of Orshin convent is an early Moscow type of such construction (a stone wall with apertures). It reflects the tendency in liturgy, architecture and art in XVI century. The preservation of the fresco with the image of St. Onoupfrius is fragmentary, the iconography is canonic. It is supposed that this altar bar had a traditional type of painting characteristic of that time. |
