| Abstract: |
The article introduces readers to the recently opened icon of «John the Baptist - the Angel of the desert» from the Museum collection of the city of Kirov. It describes the compositional and coloristic features of painting and explains the semantic parts of the composition. With the help of iconographic analysis the paper makes a supposition about the approximate date of writing icons. On the basis of known historical facts about Vyatka lands, an attempt is made to include this icon in the traditions of the local icon painting. |
