| Abstract: |
The history of the Tver gingerbread tradition goes back more than one hundred years. Meanwhile, the scientific interest to printing gingerbread appeared only at the end of the XIX century. Among the most outstanding works there are works of I. K. Lindeman, N. D. Vinogradov, L. E. Kalmykova, N. N. Goncharova. Every of these authors paid their attention and gave the description of one or several angles of the gingerbread existence. They explored the history of the appearance, development and particular features of the main centres of the gingerbread production, and also the iconography of gingerbread boards and the producers’ craft were examined. There was the problem of the gingerbread participation in the ritual practice as well. In this work, for the first time, all the separate evidences concerning the Tver gingerbread tradition as a complex cultural fact are collected, moreover, its analysis was realized in three different directions: a wooden gingerbread board, properly speaking, dough products (printing gingerbread) and the participation of the printing gingerbread in the ritual and everyday human life. |
