Abstract: |
Etiquette is one of the essential phenomena of culture, that’s why it is vital to understand this concept in the social and cultural terms of the Russian society. The definition itself of this cultural phenomenon is complex and ambiguous, but the importance of its functions and social significance is undisputable. Based on historical analysis of the formation of etiquette, we can determine the nature of its ethnic and cultural features, and establish the causal relationships. Significant is the approach that etiquette appears as one of the key elements forming the cultural identity and as a way of its comprehension. Research of etiquette reveals the moral foundations of the Russian society as well as possible ways of their further development. The Russian etiquette has been under the influence of European etiquette for many centuries and it could not but lead to the destruction of Russian original etiquette tokens. Based on the analysis of the current trends in the society the present position of etiquette can be determined as one of the indications of the identity loss in Russia. |
