Abstract

The subject of research is the influence of Gnessin Russian Academy of Music on the development of musical culture in Chernigov region. The author examines the creative work of graduates of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in the second half of the 20th century in the fields of piano, vocal, choir arts realized in performing, pedagogic and organizational directions. The author touches upon the urgent matters of the historical-theoretical approach to the understanding of musical culture`s development within Chernigov region, and the influence of Russian culture as well. Historical-chronological, source study and logical-resumptive methods constitute the methodological basis of the work to study biographies of the Gnessin Academy’s graduates with the aim of singling out their musical-pedagogical work in Chernigov region and the analysis of data from periodical sources. Regardless of the fact that various aspects of Gnessin Academy representatives’ work have long been under the reviews of musicologists, the study of ideas development at Gnessin Academy’s within the musical culture of Ukraine and, specifically, Chernigov region has never been undertaken. The results of the research bring us to the conclusion of the priority role of the Gnessin Academy’s graduates in formation of the musical culture of Chernigov region since 1950s and its further development in the recent times.
