Abstract

The analysis of headlines of Russian-language newspapers released in Dagestan shows that they include different sorts of precedent information. Journalists’ reference to literary precedents is one of the most powerful ways to attract readers’ attention to newspaper copies and to form the joint opinion on a covered event. According to the research, these references to literature include a direct insertion of any original precedent text as well as a transformed one. The transformation may be related to a precedent text’s structure, semantics or stylistics. Journalists refer to fiction prose to describe a certain social-cultural context that is contemporary Dagestan society. These facts are easily grasped by the majority of Russian-speaking Dagestan people.

Keywords
