Abstract |
The paper looks at the Symbol System of Costume (SSC) of 2017 Russian Style Designer Collections for the first time with analyzing SSC symbolics in design of modern costume in Russian style of spring – summer 2017 season. The article identifies leading symbols and dominant SSC symbols for the season in costume design and in its background image (“costume — graphical environment” system). The authors detect main colors and dominant colors in SSC of designer's collections of spring – summer 2017 season and come to the conclusion that symbols semantics in “costume – graphical environment” system is supported by color range of collections. A proportion of colors groups which is close to the image of Russian national costume has been revealed in Russian style collections. The study resulted in classification of the most popular images of Russian characters from fairy tales and legends in modern fashion industry. The research outcomes were used for updating authors' SSC database on modern costume design. |
