Abstract

This study is to introduce culturological interpretation as a universal mechanism for reading of the text that opens a possibility to comprehend the meaning of historical and cultural events / or text of culture in its wholeness, as well as to reconstruct the author's intent. Such type of communication expands the boundaries of a text, makes it open and up for deeper interpretation. Time distance from an original source, its relevance to a current situation, identification search of meanings and realities as a result of moving from one culture to another, social adaptation — all these factors affect the text of culture. Actually, the cultural text stands as a cultural category. It is a non-linear sequence of characters that form an integral statement of the subject of culture; it has a content and semantic completeness, as well as a reflection of the total socio-cultural experience that creates and translates meanings and values of culture important in a certain space-time continuum and becoming relevant in the other. The study involves discovering objective and subjective factors influencing a perception of text of culture. It considers the mechanisms described by N. A. Kuzmina with regard to literary works as universal actions for subject`s interpretation of a text in general and text of culture in particular. The mechanism of cognitive harmony is a variant of a holistic comprehension, reading and representation of the text of culture in view of its contextual links.
