Abstract

This article is to analyze the assessments presented in the book “Russian religious mind”, written and published by the famous emigre historian G. P. Fedotov after his moving from France to the United States. As the author of the article notes the “implied readers” of the book were supposed to be the Russian emigrants and not only Americans interested in Russian culture. This was the reason for the hidden nature of George Fedotov’s polemics with Father Sergius Bulgakov, who had earlier presented to readers his understanding of Russian Christianity. Fedotov showed, without naming his former colleague at the St. Sergius Theological Institute in Paris, that Bulgakov’s views were rooted in the pagan hylozoist oriented pantheism.

Keywords
