Abstract

Globalization of society and processes taking place in the world of fashion are inevitably shaping the modern costume. The wedding dress is now chosen as a sacred object of fashion. This article focuses on the history of development of wedding dresses and transformation of their shapes, cuts and color combinations, expressing the style and worldview of each gown’s era. It is exactly from the perspective of historical experience that people’s sense of belonging to their times, ethnos and civilization or culture are realized, the latter one just like a mirror reflecting their deep aspirations and hopes for the future in wedding dresses.
