Abstract |
The present article, widely drawing on the works of the world literature, pays particular attention to the so-called non-stylistic imitations, which were closely analyzed by D. S. Likhachev in his study A Poetics of the Old Russian Literature. Our probing into the principles of medieval literature of the Near and Far East allows for deepening our knowledge of this particular technique informing the Medieval texts. New insights into historical and theoretical aspects of literary studies have spurred reconsideration of literary phenomena on certain regional and inter-regional levels up to overall reassessment of medieval literary development at large. Considering the Medieval period as unique in World studies, as emanating a very particular type of artistic consciousness, this article offers a new take on ‘non-stylistic imitations’ as an effective technique integral to Medieval literature. |
